Minimizing Mapping: An Abstract Exercise In Game Design
I would definitely do a hub-based game for a low-map RPG. Instead of visiting towns, just have a central area (the Normandy, Skyhold, the Elsa, etc.) where everything else launches from.
Word. I'd really like to make or play a game where the central area is a spaceship and you basically go on little space missions to different places. Kind of a Star Trek vibe, that'd be really cool.
Here's a pretty good RPG Maker game a bit like that: SYMA.
Why continue a series?
I mean with games that reached a large audience and were popular, there's a legitimate reason: to get that same audience again.

Some games, such as the elder scrolls series and fallout series, aren't about the story. They are about exploring a new world with complete freedom.

Having a real major Crohn's flareup. I don't seem able to keep any solid food down and I'm feeling pretty horrible. So if anyone was wondering why I've been /will be posting/RMN Playing/gam making less, that's why.
thanks guys. feeling a little better today i think, i just woke up. it's been pretty hellish since monday, though. generally speaking i've been eating something like 100 calories per day and that has left me feeling as weak as a kitten and really woozy. i've been sleeping like 16 hours a day since monday, because my body isn't getting any energy from food so that only leaves sleep. i've been crying a lot over random shit too, my emotional defenses are way down, illness will do that to you. on wednesday i like made like literally two enemies for lionheart in the databas and then i was like "tired now, can't gam mak anymore, gonna watch some tv" and that made me want to cry because it was pretty pathetic.
yesterday i managed to eat two pieces of toast woohoo lol
yeah about two years ago I made a thread about going in for a major surgery to remove my terminal ileum (the last part of the small intestine) which was severely narrowed by stricturing due to the disease (inflammation over time forming scar tissue). so i got that part cut out and i was feeling pretty good for a while but now the disease has recurred this time throughout the large intestine. it sucks. it really, really sucks. i've just got to be more religious about always taking all of my medicine on time and trying to make an effort to eat properly and stuff. i think what triggered this flareup was either that i had run out of my pentasa prescription for a few days and missed a few days doses or that I cooked and ate some apparently questionable beef in a misguided attempt to make korean bbq style beef
the sheer intensity of the recent sickness is what makes me think it must be a normal stomach bug (stomach virus or salmonella or whatever) that normal people get from time to time on top of crohn's disease as opposed to just crohn's disease. on wednesday i vomited and it was the first time i've vomited in years.

A person called 911 and told them someone was pointing a gun at people on the street and scaring them. He said he was not sure but it Might Be A Toy and that the person might he a boy. The person dispatching police to the scene did not relay the information that it might be a boy NOR that it might have been a toy. The cops going to the scene were told a man with a gun was pointing it at people and scaring them.
YES, it was a grave error on the part of the police. First, the cop who killed the boy had been fired from another police force but his department NEVER checked his records on the other force. He was not mentally suited for the job and should most likely go to jail but it was really the fault of the town who hired him.
I was playing with a bunch of friends with realistic looking guns and swords in a public park. Police were called on us several times, by which I mean like park goers literally called the local cops and said 'there is someone on top of that dam with a sniper rifle'. Exactly none of those times was any of us shot or manhandled by a cop. Why do you think that is if not because we were white?
Also, why weren't these women shot when Tamir Rice and others were if not racism? Answer me that, sir.

THIS FALSE DICHOTOMY IS TOTAL BULLSHIT. Punishing the murderers appropriately in no way excludes working on the system that hires and trains and equips cops, doing stricter screening, stricter firings, body cameras, federal felony crimes for disabling body cameras, and so on. BOTH OF THESE THINGS NEED TO HAPPEn.
Stop pretending that we can only do one or another. Crucify the cops responsible and then overthrow the system so this can't happen again.

In my experience, you get what you pay for. Sure, there are people who work for free, but that work is often shit. Also, talented folks who offer to work for free very quickly become bored and quit/disappear/do minimal work with maximum excuses.
In order to get good quality assets for a game reliably so you can finish in a decent amount of time, it needs to come out of your pocket.
So, what is your experience exactly?
Because I actually own a company that pays substantial amounts of money to substantial numbers of artists to create art for use in games. And I can reliably get very high quality work at very reasonable prices.
What are you thinking about right now?

They don't say anything hateful or even anything funny. They apparently thought it was "some sort of a sci-fi convention" lol.
I've just eaten a bowl of tempura chicken with rice. And my body is fiercely rejecting it. Seeing as how I got violently ill the last time I ate this particular meal, I'm going to take the hint. I've dumped it all out, and its a terrible waste, but I really need to not get sick again.

Yeah regarding the "realistic toy guns" issue I'll repeat...
For those who might suggest race was not a factor here, I personally have been playing with realistic looking airsoft guns in public parks with all of my friends AS AN ADULT every weekend for five years now. Neither I nor any of my friends have been shot. Most of us are white.
